God's Mustache

I was doing one of my favorite activities the other night: watching children! Oh how I enjoy that! :) I had three babies, a four year old and a five year old (all girls). I was sitting at the table, calmly drawing rainbows with the older two girls when this conversation transpired:

"Did you know God has a mustache?" the five year old said, as serious as can be.
"Oh?" I questioned.
"Yeah. I saw him. In a book."
"Really?"
"Yeah!" the four year old agreed. "I saw him too. His mustache is really, really long."
"Yeah it is." the five year old agreed. "But not all the way to the floor."
"Yeah, not to the floor." the four year old echoed.

Huh. I never knew that before. But you can't argue with a five year old who saw it in a book. :)

Sewing Class (Week 7)

So...there was very little actual sewing going on tonight. We had three machines to start with and ended with only one. Yeah...instead of sewing we did a lot of breaking of machines and trying to fix them.

It was an interesting night.

Below is my mom (well, her hands anyway) preforming surgery on one of the broken sewing machines.

This is what happened to the other sewing machine....

Yup. That was our night. Lots of machine fixing...and not much else.

Sign Language

I have been so busy I haven't been blogging much and what I have been blogging has been just sewing class lately. I'm going to step away from that and do something random now.

So, update on life: I have been taking a sign language class for a while now, and it is amazing!

I love signing. So far, we are still working on vocabulary. It has been crazy fun to do, and I love being able to have conversations with my sister via sign language. Granted, they are very brief conversations with patchy sentences because we don't know a lot yet. But it's amazing! I never knew sign language could be so enjoyable, but it totally is! I always look forward to each week's class with the greatest anticipation. :)

Sewing Class (Week 6)

Another week of sewing has come and gone, and I am on pins and needles. My dress is nearly completed! The bodice and skirt are put together now!!! I can't show you yet, not until everything is accomplished (per orders of my instructor). But someday soon we'll have a grand unveiling. :)

I still got slightly stressed (slightly...ha...I was freaking out). The whole gathering of the skirt thing was completely out of my kin. But I survived, and I loved seeing the fruit of my efforts. It's going to be the cutest dress ever. :)

Sewing Class (Week 5)

Yay for sewing! Today was amazing. :) I had so much fun at sewing class and I absolutely adore my teacher. (If you are reading this, just know that I love you to pieces.)

My bodice is put together now! (but we aren't done...there's always more to do...) And don't freak out, friends...I actually sincerely enjoyed myself this evening! I had FUN. :)

Behold: my bodice!!

Above is Rebekah working away diligently on her bodice, and below is me working on mine.

As I have already stated, I had a blast this evening. :) I love sewing. I know I have said this before, but you definitely need to go check out my amazing teacher's blog. :) Cherishing My Role (in the home)

I cannot wait for next week!!

Sewing Class (Week 4)

We have finally got back to sewing after two weeks off...the "real" stuff began tonight. In other words, actual sewing not just cutting out patterns. I did try my hardest to maintain my calm and not get stressed out. I do not know how well I succeeded.

Darts! A new experience for me.

I sincerely enjoyed this evening. I am excited to see how my dress will turn out! But I am no seamstress, despite my optimism...and I do often get discouraged. Still, this has been a new and fun adventure for me all four weeks of class...and I'm sure it will continue to be fun and exciting as we move forward.
