A Joyful Heart

You know those people that brighten up the world around them? You encounter them, and no matter how slight your interaction with them is, you leave them with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step?

I had one such encounter tonight. I was shopping and saw an acquaintance and we chatted for a short period of time. We didn't say anything important. But when I left that brief encounter, I was smiling and skipping to my car.

That is who I aspire to be.

I want to be the kind of person that is a blessing to everyone I encounter, on a daily basis. The person who leaves the people behind them smiling. I want to be the girl that after seeing me, for however brief a space, the world appears just a little bit brighter for you. I want to have a joy that is infectious.

How do I accomplish this?

I don't know, but here's my game plan:

Everything is going to start and end with a smile. No matter how bad a day I may be having. I will try to be encouraging, uplifting, cheerful and full of joy.

"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22. A joyful heart is good medicine....and not just for yourself. Your joyful heart can be good medicine for the people who come in contact with you. That's the verse that I am going to keep close beside me as I try to be a blessing to everyone around me. The second half of the verse is something to avoid. I don't want to be drying up my bones or anyone else's. :/

"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up bones."
