Challenge Accepted

I have discovered a new challenge....and his name is Chopin!

I enjoy playing piano, and have done so for nearly ten years. In the last two years, however, I have had a truly amazing teacher who has stretched me farther than I thought I could go and taught me valuable lessons--such as, how to make MUSIC. That is a constant refrain during my lessons since I began taking piano at the college. Learning to create MUSIC. I have to play MUSIC. I am often told that I can "do notes well," I have the technical side of things covered. Now I need to learn to create MUSIC. It has been challenging but fun to learn to play more than just correct notes.

Now, the challenge continues. For three full semesters I was playing simple yet beautiful pieces by Schumann. The pieces themselves were not a challenge, making MUSIC of them was. Now, I have been "promoted" to Chopin....and boy is it challenging! There are so many notes! It's a mess; a beautiful, confusing, mess. I think I am going to enjoy Chopin, when I get over the frustration of mastering the colorful array of notes contained on a single page.

Challenges are good. I am learning and growing in my skills and becoming ever more confident in my piano playing.

Challenges outside of piano playing are good too. They help me grow as a person to become the woman of God that I am called to be. It's not always easy and I don't always enjoy it. At times it can be truly frustrating. But it is more than worth it!
